Preserving the Legacy Vol. TWO DVD: Lloyd Richards,Gordon Davidson,Tonen Sara O'Connor New
TCG Oral History Project
Voices of the American Theatre
Preserving the Legacy, tell us a story of the American, not for profit theatre movement over the past 50 years through the eyes of some of its most noted practitioners. Each has served as president of the board of Theatre communications Group, the national organization for the American Theatre, and their stories become a microcosm of the field itself. As theatre in the United States move further into the 21st-century, it becomes more urgent to document and celebrate the accomplishments in artistry of our past.
The second volume features interviews with Lloyd Richards, director, past dean of the Yale School of Drama, and former artistic director of the Yale Repertory Theater and the Eugene, O?Neill Theater Center; Gordon Davidson, longtime artistic director of the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles; and Tonen Sarah, O?Connor, Zen Priest and former management director of the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
These interviews offer insight into what it means to create a life in the theater; their first account with theater, their early careers, their heroes, the role of the artist, the collaborative process, the intersection of theater and institutions, and the future of theater. This series provides rare access for future generations to the legacy of theatre movement in America.
DVD features: interviews are searchable by an index of major topics. Complete interview transcripts can be downloaded and printed from a computer. Also includes special bonus feature: excerpts from all nine interviews from the preserve in the legacy series.
