Rare Antique c.1810 KPM Berlin Bell Shaped Sugar Basket Mesh w/Insert Karl Schinkel
No chips or cracks, looks amazing - see photos video!
The ancient sugar basket was made in 1810 for the Prussian Queen Luise, who was known as a great lover of classical ancient art. With his separate use, he originally served to record sugar works, hence his name.
The model for the cup shape with bell-shaped wall, worked openly in the manner of a basket mesh, was designed by the KPM model master Riese according to a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. A year earlier, Schinkel equipped the Berlin apartments of the most famous Prussian queen. During the 19th Century he became the most important German architect of classicism.
With its 2272 individual cuts made by hand, the ancient sugar basket is a showpiece of the classicist porcelain baskets of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin.
