ROYAL COPENHAGEN 1933 Christmas Plate The Ferry Odin Outside Nyborg Harbor The Ferry Odin is the subject of the 1933 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plate. It sailed between the ports of Nyborg and Korsør across the Great Belt waterway, carrying people, cars, trains and cargo. If you look closely at the close-up photo, you can see the ends of two railroad cars at the back of the ferry. Designed by Christian Benjamin Olsen (1873-1935), one of the great marine painters and a collectable artist in his own right. The design is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter approximately 7 1/8 inches. Appropriately marked on the back, including the three wavy line trademark of Royal Copenhagen. Pierced foot for hanging wire.
