Presents a view into the snowy European North, the Barnets Region. The Snowbelt anthology gives insight into the socio-economic development of the region. The articles focus on various problems being faced in the development of this special region. The first part (Evolution) discusses the path of historical evolution in the European North. The two case studies in the second part (Environment) deal with the new role of environment in the social reality of the region. The third part (Enterprises) concentrates on the economic transition process in Russia and the fourth part analyses who the actors are in the European North.The researchers involved in the anthology are specialised in Northern and Eastern European studies.
