Vintage Southwest Bolo Tie Slide Clasp Silver Turquoise Coral Signed Ethnic Native American Tribal Horned Lizard Horny Horned Toad Hallmark Floral Flower Blossom Leaf Design Swirls Etched Artwork Handcrafted Hand Made Three Dimensional Animal Stamped Signature Western Cowboy Shoestring Necklace Attachment This vintage Native American Bolo Tie Clasp is hand made out of silver and has a Turquoise stone with a red coral accent. Both stones are set in a saw toothed style bezel. It is accented with leaves, a squash blossom flower and other swirl designs against a dark oxidized background. It is not marked as sterling and has not been tested, so I will have to state that the metal content is unknown. It is signed with a horned toad, turtle or frog Hallmark. I did take it to a well known Native American jewelry store and they told me it was sterling silver and a nice piece, but they would not test it for the silver content. They also did not recognize the hallmark and were unable to attribute it to a specific artist. I have seen other pieces of jewelry with this same hallmark described as Hopi and Navajo, but I have been unable to determine the maker of the piece. The Bolo Tie is the official neckwear of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas; the slide can be worn on a lariat close to the neck or down lower. It measures approximately 2 3/8 inches tall and 1 5/8 inches wide. It weighs 1.5 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 42.52 grams. If you are familiar with the artist's hallmark, please let me know so I can add the specifics to this listing. It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There is a dark tarnish spot on the back, most likely from where the top piece was attached. There are two tiny slash marks on the stone, possibly from when it was cut and shaped (see photo with arrows). You can't see the marks without the magnification. I will leave any polishing up to you if you so desire. It has a push style clasp for the lariat. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe. This would definitely attract attention and is sure to receive many compliments. It would look great for a formal or casual occasion and could easily be worn by a man or a woman, a true unisex design.
