Vintage Ware Heavy Duty Chinese Pitcher.
This pitcher with eared handle is painted in a combination of dark underglaze blue and overglaze famille verte enamels that include pink, several shades of green, yellow, blue.
Chinese verte ? decorated porcelains were greatly appreciated in eighteenth-century Europe. For example, Augustus II, king of Poland and elector of Saxony (1670 ? 1733) ? known as Augustus the Strong ? who famously amassed an enormous number of ceramics, owned a large number of famille verte Chinese porcelains.
