Vintage Taxco Mexico Sterling Silver Dome Modernist Brooch Pin TS 91 Mexican Artisan Silversmith Signed Abstract Style Mixed Metals Central Domed Orb Orbit Stars Rays Sun Double Rope Design Dimensional Abstract Retro This is a gorgeous hand crafted vintage sterling silver Mexican brooch or pin. It is two-tone in color, brass and silver. It has a double braided rope design in the brass or gold color that surrounds a center domed silver ball. It is signed on the back with the silver grade of 925, the origin and the designer’s registration number; “Mexico TS – 91 and 925”. The TS shows that this brooch was made by one of the jewelers in Taxco. The first letter indicates the city (Taxco) and the second letter is the first letter of the silversmith’s last name. TS-91 might represent the 91st Silversmith to be registered as TS in Taxco. This brooch is very dimensional and modernistic. It measures approximately 3 inches long and 1 inches tall. It weighs .55 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 15.59 grams. It does have light superficial scratches and a patina. It could use a good polishing, but I will leave that up to you as many people prefer the patina that only comes with age. It has a rollover clasp on the back, which functions perfectly. This would make a great addition to your collection of vintage Mexican jewelry. It will be perfect for everyday wear with your favorite pair of jeans or for that elegant evening out in your little black dress.
